Letter to Women (The Pope Speaks to Women)

Description

By Pope John Paul II

Letter of Pope John Paul II to women throughout the world, dated 29 June 1995 and written on the eve of the Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing. The Pope thanks women in their many roles, acknowledges that history has often marginalised them and expresses regret for any blame borne by members of the Church. He calls for real equality in pay, career advancement and family rights, condemns sexual violence and exploitation, describes men and women as complementary, and presents Mary as the highest expression of the feminine genius.
