This volume begins a series of previously unpublished writings of St. Josemaría, addressed expressly to the members of Opus Dei, but which help to illuminate the itinerary of every Christian life. It contains the first four Pastoral Letters, written during his first years in Madrid, in which he deals with the universal call to holiness and the apostolate in ordinary life: work, the life of prayer, contemplation in the midst of the world, the Christian transformation of social realities, the freedom and responsibility of the Christian in his temporal actions, and the human and Christian value of friendship.
